The “Thopputhurai Muslim Association ” was formed in 1948 to serve the community in Singapore, Malaysia and Thopputhurai.

The association name was changed and gazetted on 15/7/2004 as “THOPPUTHURAI MUSLIM ASSOCIATION (SINGAPORE)” - TMAS

The old generation people from Thopputhurai in Singapore mostly stay at the places like Tanjong Pagar and Jalan Sultan. They have to be united in those days because the gangsters disturbing were there in those days & law and order are not like today. Indians lived in Serangoon area; Arabs in Arab Street; Indian Muslims in Market, Chulia street;  Europeans in Orchard road & Chinese in Telok Ayer, Bras Baseh and all around Singapore. The Chinese started their own association like Hokkien Association, Cantonese Association and Nanyang Association and many others. 

The association was formed by the founder members like, Janab S.M.Noordin Marackayar as the President, Janab K.Abdul Wahab as the Secretary, Janab M.Faquir Mohammad Ravuthar as the Treasurer and twenty other members at 1948. A member gave the place for the association. At the start subscription fee was twelve Singapore dollars and donation. With this small subscription & donation the association started its contribution to the community like: -
Providing money as aid to the poor: -
During their marriages, for mayyath, for sunnath, for education.

And building funds for mosques & schools, and for celebrating the “Milad Nabi” function every year.
